Volume XIII — Rohini

Stretch ceilings in Rohini, fitted in an afternoon — no POP, no dust.

Stretch ceilings start from ₹180 per square foot in Rohini, with a free site visit anywhere in Sectors 1 to 24. A PVC membrane on a hidden track — matte, glossy, satin, or printed with an Italian sky. No POP cracks, no false-ceiling weight, and the room is dust-free in a single visit.

Chapter — Rohini

A sky on a cord. That is what it looks like.

Stretch ceiling is not new — it has been in European homes for thirty years — but it only really arrived in Delhi around 2019. We started fitting them in Rohini soon after, and demand has roughly tripled in two years. The reason is plain: it goes up in a single afternoon, costs less than a gypsum false ceiling, and it never cracks the way a Rohini DDA POP ceiling does after a few summers.

The most beautiful version is the printed Italian-sky membrane — a high-resolution image of a partly-clouded blue sky stretched across a kids' bedroom or clinic ceiling, with hidden cove lighting around the perimeter. We have fitted it in Sector 24 Avantika towers, Sector 13 DDA flats and a Sector 9 clinic; the effect, especially at twilight, is genuinely cinematic.

Why Rohini buyers are switching from POP

POP cracks. Gypsum sags. Stretch does neither.

Most Rohini DDA flats and builder floors have POP-and-paint ceilings. After three or four hot summers and one or two leaks from the floor above, the result is the familiar pattern: hairline cracks, watermarks, falling flakes near the air-cooler vent. The standard fix is more POP, more paint — and a week of dust in the home.

Stretch ceiling solves all three problems at once: no cracks because the membrane is flexible, no watermarks because it does not absorb water, no flakes because there is no plaster to fall. Crucially, fitting it does not need any wet work — the aluminium track is fixed to the perimeter wall, and the PVC sheet is heated and clipped in. Total dust output: minor, vacuum-able as we go.

Finishes we keep on hand

  • Plain matte — the workhorse. Looks like a freshly-painted POP, ages better. ₹180 / sq ft.
  • Satin — soft sheen, slightly reflective. ₹200 / sq ft. Excellent for living rooms.
  • Glossy — fully reflective, doubles the visual height of a low Rohini DDA ceiling. ₹220 / sq ft.
  • Printed sky — high-resolution Italian or European sky photography. ₹280 – ₹360 / sq ft. Most popular for kids' rooms.
  • Biophilic prints — leaf canopies, forest, floral. ₹320 – ₹420 / sq ft. Excellent for spa and clinic ceilings.
  • Translucent & backlit — for hidden LED lighting effects. ₹380+ / sq ft. Striking over a dining table or reception desk.

What the install looks like in a Rohini flat

The fitter arrives, drills the perimeter track into the wall (2 mm above the existing ceiling line), and uses a heat gun to expand the PVC membrane to room temperature. Once warm, the membrane is clipped into the track, then cools and contracts to a perfectly flat finish. The whole job for a typical Rohini bedroom takes one full day. A drawing-room ceiling, two days.

Lighting is integrated during the install — recessed downlights, cove LEDs, hidden ambient strips. We can also do "starry sky" effects with fibre-optic point-lights through a deep navy printed membrane, which is the rare detail that justifies the higher cost in a kids' room. For the Avantika and Naharpur high-rises we log the visit with tower security a day ahead — give us the building name on WhatsApp and we handle it.

The leak story

Stretch ceilings have one underrated property: they catch water. If a pipe or floor leaks from above, the membrane sags but does not tear. We drain it through a small access point and re-stretch the ceiling. Cost of repair: a fraction of redoing a POP ceiling. This alone has converted several upper-floor Rohini DDA flats where leaks from the terrace neighbour are a recurring problem.

Stretch Ceiling · Rohini · FAQ

Asked often. Answered honestly.

What is a stretch ceiling and how is it different from POP or false ceiling?

A stretch ceiling is a thin PVC membrane stretched on a hidden aluminium track fixed at the perimeter of the room. Compared to POP it never cracks, never sags from leaks, weighs almost nothing, and goes up in a single afternoon with no dust. Compared to gypsum-board false ceilings it costs less, takes a fifth of the time, and can be printed with any image including a sky.

How long does a stretch ceiling take to install in Rohini?

A typical Rohini bedroom takes one day; a drawing room one to two days. The room is usable the same evening — no curing, no paint smell, no setting time. Lead time from order to install is usually 5 to 10 days because the membrane is cut to your measurements at the supplier.

How much does stretch ceiling cost in Rohini?

Plain matte and satin start at ₹180 / sq ft fully fitted. Glossy ₹220 / sq ft. Printed sky and biophilic membranes ₹280 – ₹420 / sq ft. A typical 12×14 ft Rohini bedroom in plain matte works out to ₹30,000 – ₹35,000 fitted.

Is stretch ceiling good for kids' rooms and clinics in Rohini?

Particularly good. The PVC is hypoallergenic, doesn't shed dust like POP, can be wiped clean, and the printed sky designs are a popular choice for kids' rooms across Rohini. Several clinics in Sector 8 and Sector 10 have used our stretch ceilings for the same reason.

What happens if there is a water leak from the floor above?

The PVC membrane actually catches the water — it sags but does not tear. We can drain it through a small valve and re-stretch the ceiling for a small fee. This is one of the underrated reasons to pick stretch over POP, particularly in older Rohini DDA blocks where upper-floor leaks are not uncommon.
